Pierce County has a great opportunity to join a stellar team of engineers that design sanitary sewer system extensions, improvements, and preservation projects from conception through design and construction management.
Whether you are a recent graduate, new to wastewater, or an experienced designer, this position will give you the opportunity to apply your skills and further develop fundamentals as you work with a diverse group of maintenance and operations professionals, internal engineering teams, consulting engineers, and developers.
Specific tasks include computer-aided design, standards development, specification development, engineering calculations, alternatives analysis, report writing, and team communication.
This position also includes a great opportunity to develop your AutoCAD/Civil 3D skills as you work on real world projects that help make a difference in our communities.

Core Daily
Responsibilities:
Prepare plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for sewer capital improvement and preservations projects.
Computer-aided drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Communicate regularly with maintenance and operations staff, other engineers and engineering technicians within the work group, and groups outside the division.
Perform all phases of sewer projects from planning, design, construction, project closeout, and support for operations and maintenance.
Qualifications Minimum
Qualifications:
A Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field OR Registration as an Engineer-In-Training OR Four years of progressively responsible, broad-based civil engineering experience is required.
Education and work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
As a condition of employment, the applicant will need to authorize and complete a background check.

Holidays:
Some full-time employees are entitled to eleven paid holidays as follows:

Furlough:
Some Pierce County employees may be designated to receive 10 furlough days per year in lieu of holidays.
Furlough days are available for use on January 1 and must be scheduled and taken within the calendar year.
Employees who leave employment with Pierce County must reimburse the employer for used furlough days based upon the number of remaining holidays.
Sick Leave:
Sick leave accrues on a bi-weekly basis, at the rate of one day per month.
